Material Test Certificates

Every consignment is supplied with a Material Test Certificate. Our standard is an EN 10204 3.1 certificate — issued by the manufacturer, validated by an inspection representative independent of the production department, and stating the actual chemical and mechanical results for the heat supplied.

Where your specification or your client requires third-party witness, we supply EN 10204 3.2 certification countersigned by an independent inspector. Tell us at enquiry stage, because it changes the mill selection and the lead time.

Traceability

Material is marked and cross-referenced to the heat number on the certificate. For fabricated items we supply the certificates for every component in the assembly — pipe, fittings, flanges and consumables — together with the weld map.

Testing

• Chemical composition and mechanical properties as standard on the MTC
• Hydrostatic testing and eddy current testing on pipe as the specification requires
• Non-destructive testing on fabricated assemblies — dye penetrant, radiography and ultrasonic
• Positive Material Identification (PMI) on request
• Intergranular corrosion testing to ASTM A262 on request
• Ferrite measurement on duplex and super duplex
• Impact testing at low temperature for A333 and cryogenic service

Sour service

Material for H₂S service is supplied to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 where specified, with hardness results on the certificate. This applies to the whole assembly — pipe, fittings, flanges and bolting — not only the pipe. If your line is sour, say so at enquiry stage rather than at inspection.

IBR

For Indian boiler and boiler-connected piping we supply IBR-certified material with Form III-C approved by the relevant boiler inspectorate.
